Alea iacta est.The dice has been cast, Martijn is born! Mama and Papa love playing the boardgame Dixit and wanted to tell their own fairytale with the birthannouncement for their little boy. They met us at FACTS, where we briefly discussed the card. Later on, they dropped by at our house to look at the different styles of illustrations and to finalize the concept: a magical garden. The atmosphere of the card was inspired by the Dixit illustrations. The main characterhad to be gender neutral because Mama and Papa wanted to be surprised when their little one was born: we didn't know wether it was going to be a boy or a girl, how very exciting! They have a wonderfull veggie garden and beautifull chickens, so they were included in the design. They chose a double US postal format, which allowed us to play with the landscape on the front and back of the card. You can see little Martijn blow bubbles followed by his chicken-buddies. In the magical garden a game-board inspired brick leads you to a magic beanstalk in the distance. On the inside a smaller illustration and text were added. Mama and Papa also ordered round stickers for the 'suikerbonen' and the bubble-bottles. When Martijn decided to be born on the 15th of july, Papa sent us a message with the final details. The files were sent to the printingcompany. A few days later Mama & Papa recieved the cards so they could notify friends and family!
We wish Martijn and his parents a magical time growing up with lots and lots of boardgame fun!

Mama, Papa & Little Brother were very excited: little Nathan was on his way to join the family. One day Mama was looking through her wallet and they found our 4MINIgeeks cards which she picked up at FACTS two years ago. They wanted a birth announcement to tell his story and the story of their family. In the virtual world Mama is a Sphinx and Papa is a Phoenix, Little Brother loves lions and his favourite colour is red. The whole family met up with us in Elftopia for a brainstorm in the shadows of the trees on a very hot day. They wanted a card that suited their family to a T, with custom made illustrations. Soon the concept was clear: it was going to be a mini-deck of RPG cards starring little Nathan as a mage! A deck of 3 cards: a birth announcement, an invitation to the 'baby-borrel' and a thank-you-card. Elements of their RPG characters and Little Brother would be part of the illustrations. Sketches were sent back and forward untill everything fell into place. Meanwhile Papa had the very important task of designing the game-play: which attacks would little Nathan use, how much damage would they do and what would his defence be? Each card got carefully selected attack and defence strategies assigned. Conclusion: Nathan is undefeatable with sonic cries and a high huggablility-rate!
Mama and Papa also wanted to have little boxes for the treats (suikerbonen) with the same illustrations as the cards. Mama, Papa and Little Brother picked them up at our booth at FACTS, together with the original paintings for the baby-room.With the boxes ready and filled with goodies and the print-ready-file ready to go, the waiting game began. On 2nd november we received a message: Nathan was born! The cards were sent of to the printers and Papa could pick them up the same day. Congrats to the parents of Nathan! Mama and Papa love camping. Not the kind of camping-in-a-castle-on-wheels, but real camping: with a tent and an open fire. When they discovered that they were expecting a little minigeek of their own they were absolutely thrilled! They decided that their little one was going to be called Tuur, which means bear. They went looking for a birthannouncement to tell the story of their boy: a sweet little boy, who is brave as a bear. He sits at a camping fire, with Bernadette the pet rabbit. His shadow casts a bear-shape, who fights off charter based on a board game Mama & Papa play (Stuffed Fables). On the back of the card Tuur is softly asleep, with his stuffed fables looking over him!
Congratulations to the parents of Tuur! Nine months ago, Mama and Papa found out the great news: Liene is on her way! Mama and Papa started looking for the perfect birth announcement card to share the news .... and they actually found it two years ago at our booth at F.A.C.T.S. They decide to visit our home to brainstorm and tell us about their plans: they decide to go for a RPG-card with an illustration from our website which will be slightly adjusted to match the format of the card. Ofcourse Big Sister also has a part to play: she makes a cameo appearance on the inside of the card, holding on to her favourite cuddly toy! Mama & Papa also order matching boxes for the "suikerbonen"/sweets. The boxes will be filled with M&M's, so they order boxes in matching colours! Papa's talent as a mobile app designer, also prooves very usefull: he's got great idea's for the gamecard-lay out for the front of the card. The result is a beautifull gamecard birth announcement in co-creation to welcome Liene into the world! Mails go back and forward untill we have a card design that suits them to a T. We make a print-ready file and the waiting game begins. Mama & Papa drop by our house to pick up the boxes. On the 9th of may we recieve a textmessage from Papa: little Liene is born. She's a healthy little girl of 3.95 kg and 52 cm! We fill in the last details on the card and send the file off to the printers. As soon as we get word from the printer, we send Papa a message so he can pick up the cards at the pick-up point near where they live!
Congratulations to Mama and Papa with their beautifull little girl. Then make sure your newborn will grow up to be one too! We've developed a brand new concept for gamer-parents-to-be. A birth announcement card designed to look like your favourite game. Babystation, Xbaby, take your pick! We'll customize it with your little one's name and the text of your choice on the back of the card. You can also order your matching babyshower sweets (suikerbonen). We'll print the customized design as a sleeve for a real game-case which you can fill up with treats for all those who come to visit your little one! The back and the front of the sleeve are designed like a real game! On the back you see two screenshots and the usual smallprint you find on games ... but with a twist. There's also lots of room for a personalized text. You can order them with game cases, which you can fill with treats. An original way to announce the birth of your little one ... and more importantly secure a gaming future for your newborn ;).
